My newest art installation at Satori Artist Retreat!
We have such an amazing gaggle of birds at our feeder and birdbaths, so they had to have a cozy subdivision made for the winter months. Reminiscent of St John’s, Newfoundland, with all their pretty colourful houses on a hill. All the houses are made from bits and bobs: antique license plates, an old lantern, enamel lids, a wooden shoe and old shoe forms, and even the lighthouse’s old donation box.
Next I’m onto squirrel houses to keep the tiny red squirrels warm this winter. They will be made out of salvaged black plastic buoys, stuffed with straw. Cozy winter homes for the January nights!
The squirrels come to our door, politely asking for nuts. One in particular is our favourite; we call him Twitchy!
